removing oil turbo pipe that gets cloged 1.6hdi

has anybody ever taken off the oil pipe that has the gauze filter init was going to clean mine out at the weekend while i have the van in the garage

You might find posts from Lighty or Polar on this matter. I know the former does it as a matter of course on all turbo replacements.

Yes, did it the other day, -- about 1,1/2 plus work
Kat has to be removed to gain access to the buttom connection, where the filter is in. Turbo stays in place. Radiator stays in as well, but nerds to be covered so that it does not get damaged.

You can get away with disconnecting the cat from the turbo and the block, then lean it forward leaving the bottom joint attached to the flexible section. You have to take the front heat shield off as well.
Did mine today, mesh filter was as clean as a whistle, still removed it though. Would be better if the mesh was at the turbo end, that way you could clean it every week if you wanted. Perhaps that's the answer!
