Tailgate lock not working?

Hi guys,

I came home the other day, tried to open the boot as usual, but when I pulled the handle nothing happened. Now I've been in the boot having a look at things, and it would seem to me that there was something missing (however nothing was rolling around in the tailgate). Theres a little lever that moves down when the handle is pulled - looks like it may be connected to the white lever that goes down to open the boot - but there is nothing connecting the two - anyone know how it is meant to work?

Funnily enough mine packed in today as well - frustrating as all my tools were in the boot area! Will have a look tomorrow, gonna have to put the seats down and try and get everything out the 'slot'.

If anyone has any ideas between now and then, please post them up
