Got bored waiting for parts...

Since my Berlingo is 'drivable' (for a few minutes at least), I did a quick run down to the nearest lumberyard on friday and picked up a sheet of 12mm plywood.

Even managed to get back home without the engine boiling...

You see, I have this problem that half the time I'm working in the garage is wasted, looking for the right tool...

I cut a couple of pieces off of the sheet, one 55cm wide, the other 65cm wide. Added a few crews, a couple of hinges and voila...

   

The narrow piece goes between the uprights, and is fastened with screws to the wood siding. The other is hinged in front of that.
Then I took all my tools, sorted them, and laid (most of) them out on A4 paper, drew their outlines with a black marker and coloured in with a red one.
Then I cut of the excess and laminated the sheets.

Now I'm in the process of fitting everything onto the plywwod(using duct tape to hold the laminated sheets, of course).
I'm trying to group stuff together(tire irons together with the lazy arm, a tool to mount valves in rims, pressure gauge and a wheel balancer for MC/Scooter wheels is one group.)
I'm also trying to keep the 'flatter' tools inside the tool locker, and thicker tools on the outside of the 'door', so that it can be closed.

When I'm satisfied with the placement, I'll take a bunch of nails and hammer them through the sheets and use those to hang the tools on.

Not only will it be easy to see where tools belong, but if I decide to reorganise, I just pull the nails, move the sheets around and hammer in new nails.

For the spanners I've written the size and how many I have also, on the sheets. (I actually have 5x 10 mm spanners... Ony wrote 4 on the boar, though, and stored the 5th in my scooter.)

Still got a whole heap of tools to add to the boards, though...

I managed to get a set of drawers that were being thrown out at the last hospital I worked at. The sort they store A4 paper and patient record sheets and the like. Labelled them all up and that's where my tools live. Trouble is my family keep borrowing the tools and not putting them back.:twisted::brickwall::twisted:

Drawers are nice.
Unfortunately, my garage isn't all that wide, so I have to avoid stuff that sticks too far out.

I'm also building a workbench to mount on a wall.
(Hinged so that it swings down and takes less space when not needed.)
