Alternator bearings, pully bearings, belt? Ivwouldn't drive it until it was sorted if it were mine!

Frayed cambelt or aux belt; something flapping on a placcy cover.

First thing I'd do is free; remove the two 10mm bolts holding the top cover over the timing belt and check that bugger for fraying - it's only 17mm wide to begin with. :eek:
