There's a range of "standard" CCA ratings, up to 640.

OK...I put a uprated battery on 3years ago, a Bosch 680 amp type S4 with a 4 year warranty, but recently its been below par in the mornings, testing at 12.39 volts each morning,,,(14.40v) running...the electrician at work has run every conceivable test on the starting / charging systems, all cables off and cleaned, everything tests fine including the battery .... he has also checked the voltage draining back at nights and its within spec, but if the car stands for 3 days uuhh oohh.
Hes had the battery off the car and on 36 hr trickle charge to 13.60v after standing for a day it settled at 12.90, tested it, then stood the battery for a week and it held at 12.90 all week, I then put it back on the car (Charging at 14.40v), and the next morning before starting it read 12.60, the next morning 12.40 and a sluggish starter.
We have fitted a spare battery, a 640 amp, for a week and it all runs great, 12.80 every morning...Conclusion, the Bosch must have a cell down, but its not showing up on any tests we ran, gonna see if i can claim on the Bosch 4 year warranty....NOW, where did i put that reciept, mmmmmm
