Hello - Advice needed please
#1
Hi, I'm thinking of buying berlingo and quite like the Desire for all the roof storage spaces. If I was able to find a Desire in a scrapyard would I be able to fit these roof storage compartments into another model - without the sun roof. Hopefully someone out there will be able to tell me!

I know it would be easier to buy a Desire but all the ones I see that are in my price range are miles away!

Many thanks

I don't see why not. There is some wiring that you would need to do for the central section (12v sockets and fan blower). I will have a closer look at mine later this morning though as I am sure there will be a snag somewhere

Never thought of that, Sounds like a great idea. You'll have to let us know how you get on with this if you do it

Will do! I was just wondering if it could be done - I haven't had a chance to look closely at the fittings to see what's involved - so it will be off to find one thats nearer to home to have a proper look!

Having had a closer look at mine..

The whole interior roof section from front to back would need to be fitted as there are various roof mouldings that are all part of the modutop. This needn't be a problem as the fixing bolts look fairly accessible. This would then leave five gaps where, on the Desire, the skylight panels are fitted, so something would need to go across these to tidy it up.

The wiring could be an issue. The Modutop has got a fan blower (it is independent of the rest of the heating/ventilation system). This is a self-contained unit that allows air to be blown to the rear of the car, but it has no temperature control, just fan speed. There are also a couple of extra interior lights plus two 12v sockets that are fitted in the overhead lockers.

We have seen elsewhere on the forum that Berlingos seem to come with generic wiring looms that allow for many options so you may be lucky and find that there are connections waiting on your existing loom.
