Main dealer experience.
#1
A few years ago, I noticed that the car had a transmission vibration when pulling away from traffic lights or up a hill, on investigation i found that the inner driveshafts were worn, I was dissapointed as the car had only covered 54,000 miles although I did find out that the previous owner had been towing a caravan for the first 2 years before i bought it and that would account for the extra wear.
Rather than tackle the job on the driveway I decided to put it into the main Citroen dealer in Inverness which was near to home at that time for a pair of Citroen recon drive shafts. After 6 hours I picked the car up and drove 3 miles to go shopping at Tesco, after parking and shopping I returned to the car park to find a large pool a metre wide, of frothy clear oil under the car, it was running from under the car into a nearby drain, I lifted the bonnet, and found that frothy oil was running out the breather on top of the gearbox and was pouring down the front and rear of the box, it had been squirting out and was all over the engine bay on the gearbox side, what a bloody mess!!!.
I drove the car the 3 miles back to the dealer, they took it in and apologized, and they found that the gearbox had been severely overfilled, how and why they didnt know.

The boy had his car in the dealers a while back for a new wishbone and the dealer forgot to fit the bolt for the bottom joint .... going around a roundabout the wheel tucked under as the steering was lost, driveshaft popped out as well. I checked the work after the dealer rectified it all and found metal filings in the gearbox - the dealer agreed eventually to fit a new 'box.
Keep an eye on your oil seals in case they are tending to leak and beat the drum if you have to !
