good evening all theres a 1999 mk1 partner gone up for sale with a 185,000 miles iv been looking for one for a while and I do like the look of this one, how are these vans at that miles anything to watch out for engine rattles? leaks? cheers in advance paul

Timing belt, goop in the radiator/discoloured oil(head gasket), bearings, rust...

not sure about the rust, ive had 2 mk1's and neither has had any rust

Check the rear axle for wheels leaning in at the top, at this mileage you could end up spending a lot on brakes, suspension, exhaust etc... all the consumables. Worth keeping an eye here too.
As ever make sure ALL works electrically and there are no fault lights, check they come on and then go off with the ignition key in case some kind soul has blanked them off to cover ailments.

My Mk1 has a very small amount of rust along the bottom of the doors.
Now an ex Berlingo owner, I have a C4

That could be something as easy to fix as a borked thermostat or seized fan.
Or it could be a rotten head gasket...
