Oh No Not Another Airbag Warning Light Thread!!!

Yep afraid so. On all the time, been like that since i bought van 5 yrs ago.
Mot due soon so now have to tackle it :brickwall: Looking at some prev threads, faulty connector under seat a good place to start. So a bit of wriggle could sort it, oh no such luck. Besides theres two connectors one white with 2 thin wires and a brown one with thicker wires,Ive been focusing on the white one, assuming the brown one was perhaps for a heated seat which it doesn't have by the way. So can someone please tell me which one it is? Its a 03 1.9 d mk2
Gotta feeling its gonna be a PIA to sort out so I'm wondering if anyone in my area has a Lexia fault finder whos willing for a shilling to help me out? Long shot i know :S

Hi, I am in the same situation, and I have found that taking the connectors apart and cleaning them, and making sure that they are secure (the drivers' seat moving back and forth over the years = gradual loosening) should give you an indication if the problem lies there. Maybe a starting point.

Hiya, Yeah it appears to be a easy fix but it hasnt worked in my case. Spent time on it Sunday cleaning and generally fiddling with it, must say both connectors looked ok to me,but still not sure whether its the white connector or brown one? Oh well will concentrate on the brown block tomorrow.. Thanks for your comment.

Usually it's the brown one with the orange cable. Don't forget to check the passengers side as well.
Also to put a downer on it - the airbag light could indicate that you have a comm. line down to the Bsi etc. Like you say a read with Lexia or PP2000 will pin point it. :thumbsup:

Correct Rustcrat found out it is the brown one. White one is for seat belt. Anyways checked & fiddled with brown connector but no joy, sigh. suppose it could be poor connection inside but i think its clutching at straws tbh cos it wasn't dusty/dirty but i still wiped male ends etc. Tempted to buy s/h ecu off ebay for around £20. What would you do mate in my position?..:whistle:

Did you give it a good squirt with wd40?

Took mine apart, used some GT85 and put it back together and never been on since. Also check nothing is snagging the seat runners.

Yes mate tried that. Might as well cut connector out and try soldering them, worth a punt eh..

Have another look under the front passenger seat as I think you will have a pretensioner here as well. It is behind the plastic cover on the hand brake side.
I wouldn't start splicing connections until you definitely know the fault.
Like I said in my previous post - could be a bad Com's line.
Other possibility's are bad connections on the a/bag ecu or even the steering wheel bag its self or the connections going to it.
A read with lexia is going to be your best bet. alut:

Have you tried the seat in various postions?? Try moving it about and making sure it's clicked proper and then start up.

When mine played up and the light was on, it would go out if I put the seat fully forward after firing up. Obviously at 6ft 2 I couldn't drive it like that but it could have been presented for MOT like that
