03 2.0 hdi cambelt change at 10yrs 88k
#1
Just wanted to share my experience with the timing belt change on the 2.0 hdi.

The timing belt looked absolutely fine, likely original, but was very slack, tensioner suspect. The water pump was noisy and close to seizing up, coolant was disgusting, like stagnant pond water. Pulley on alternator belt worn, this plastic pulley is still on the engine as Citroen main dealer and eurocarparts tried to sell me incorrect parts even after seeing it in situe, I will address this soon.

The correct tension on the new timing belt appears to have cured the judder in high gears at low speeds. My advise to others with this engine would be to change at 10yrs regardless of mileage. Thanks.

Mine was changed in June at 85k and 9 years, much the same experience. The water pump was very stiff, one of the tensioners was rough. Belt looked absolutely fine.

Yep, the belt's just ONE of the things that needs checking or renewing - and people often don't realise. I had mine done last December at nine years and 92500 miles.

i wouldnt leave a cambelt for that long on a 2.0 hdi, 8 yrs/70k miles max from experience altho they do tend to break nicely if they do go and smash the rockers not the cam like the dw8
