Rear doink...
#1
Hi All

New poster. I have a 2002 Berlingo and have a doink type noise from the rear when going over bumps. I initially thought it was the exhaust swinging and hitting a mount. However ive cable tied the rubbers that tight they hardly move and so have discounted that.
It sounds like a spring type of noise and can also happen when releasing a hard pulled on handbrake.
Also if I apply handbrake whilst going over bumps the noise disappears.
I've read somewhere about the torsion bar,but the wheels are not cambered (pointing in from the top) so have discounted this.

Any help would be gratefully received

Thanks JTV

Could be the compensator spring? Have a look at this thread http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/showthrea...ake+spring

Thanks for the welcome chaps.
AN update for you. I took wheel off and found said spring. It was totally loose. Connected on the r/h side in eye (hole) but where it connects to the plate type thing it had pushed through and wasn't connected at all. The pivot type areas on this plate were solid. I sprayed with plenty of WD40 and its loosened it. Despite taking the spare wheel out,the spring is a pig to get at. I managed to get the spring closer to its correct position but not sure its totally secure. It does have tension now mind and the plate finally moves.

Forgive me for some terrible wording and description of parts. Hopefully this has fixed the problem....for now anyway

Thanks again JTV
