Changing drivers door window
#1
Has anyone had a go at this?
I have a 2002 blingo and got home yesterday to a nicely smashed drivers side window which I think was caused by some gardeners strimming.

I can get it done by Autoglass abd my insurance with a 100 quid excess, or I've found the glass itself for around 30 on eBay so could have a go myself (did one years ago on another car)

More hassle than it's worth?

I think I would go to a scrap yard then you can look at how it comes out and work out how easy it would be to put in.If it seems too difficult then you don't have to buy it.I have done a couple in the past and its not rocket science just sometimes a bit tricky but you save money and don't have to declare a claim on your insurance.Good luck

One of the easiest cars to work on for stuff like this.

Door card off including speaker, winder handle and release pull, carefully slice away the glue sponge holding the insulating sheet on (the insulating panel is useful and about £40 to replace  )

Remove the inside door mirror trim panel (Ron got all excited when I referred to it as a gusset panel). Remove the mirror.

Pull out the inner beltline rubber, then pull out the main rubber which is both beltline and glass run channel. Vacuum up the debris.

The window is speared in, front first and pointing down, then rotated once you're halfway down.

When fitting the replacement glass, ease the two glass holding clips in carefully.
