What about Redex Diesel Additive, STP Additive or Forte additives. Been told its best to take car for a good run to lower the emissions prior to MOT tests, also.

Its the deisel additive rather then the engine treatment
you want
Halfrauds also sell Millers
the usual wheeze is to bung a load in the tank and thrash it down the
motorway for a while.( drive it like you stole it sort of thing)
If you do a lot of town driving, the soot can really build up, so a jolly good
thrashing from time to time often helps burn it out.

Incidentally I've just ordered some Millers from Ebay
No idea if its snake oil or not but just playing the percentages
and throwing a tenner at the old thing.
Some folk swear by it and as I usually get supermarket fuel and
dont use the van a lot and when I do its usually local runs, It seemed worth
a try.

Yes put the juice in the tank but a good ploy advised me by my MOT man is to remove the fuel filter take out half of the fuel and replace with diesel cleaner. ( shortly before the test )
Restart the engine and just let it idle for 5 mins - NO revving
Also well worth doing a long fast run before the test, diesels like the open road and always run better after a good clear out.
There are indeed lots of varieties of snake oil out there but injector cleaner is one of the exceptions.

I used Forte for years but my son bought a 5ltr can of millers & kindly donated some to his dear old pappy.I've used it for a couple of months incl my German holiday.MOT'd on 9 Sept & the emissions were the lowest of it's 4 tests.I have enough for about 3 years motoring so the Forte will sit on the shelf.PS I always use Shell diesel or a good brand if no Shell station is near.
Geoff's recommendations are also good sound advice.

I found Redex to be the least effective of the additives I have tried.

I always use Millers. It does decrease fuel consumption and improves the smooth running of the engine irrespective
of which fuel that I use. ( So there! )

Go into Glasgow City Centre and you get gased standing on Union Street

It seems supermarket fuels are the worst for your engine (so they say) it increases or is it decreases the MPG? clogs up the injectors and gives black soot. Im only getting 42MPG. Im going to use Wynns a few days before the retest and start using either Shell or Esso and see what happens.

I have heard that the occasional top up with the super duper diesel does good.I haven't tried it as I find an extra 10p per litre reduces me to a tearful, shivering wreck.:whistle:
