near side window gone mad
#1
Hi all my 08 Berlingo near side window started to make a terrible knocking and screaming noise on its way up last week.

I have taken the door card off and cant find anything wrong with it so I lubed the runners and cable pullies but it only made matters worse!

Now if I put the window more than 8” down it wont go back up without me taking the door card off and shoving it from the bottom at the same time as pressing the button to send the window up:censored:

It is looking to me like a internal fault in the motor causing it to jam what do you guys think?

Mine has a habit of jamming when going up, then going back down. Just put pressure on glass and that cured it...must be the seals.

My passenger side window makes a terrible squealing sound when it goes down or up but not if the window is wet.

HI guys my first thought was seals so I tried lubricating the them with wd40 but that gave no change in the problem.

But it cant have hurt doing that.

Try some PTFE spray as WD40 is not really a lubricant for rubber

Another option is to use a long thin artist brush and some waterproof grease and try to get the grease in to the grooves of the window channels

With age, the rubber channels swell, gripping the glass tighter, hence the sticking and the noise

If the glass goes up and sticks it will put stress on the motor and window winder arms and will eventually cause them to bend, meaning the window will start to raise at a slant - it could even get to a point that the window will come off the runners completely and/or the motors will burn out

The only way to cure it completely is to fit new channel rubbers
