How much for my Mark2 ???
#1
I have been considering changing my car and have been considerably insulted (I think) on trade-in prices from local car dealers. My vehicle is a 2003 2.0L HDI Multispace (Mk2) with 64,500 miles. A good clean and reliable vehicle that hasn't let me down in 18 months of ownership. Offers of £500 - £800 in part-ex have been thrown at me - surely it's worth a few more shillings ???
Any ideas from you talented folk out there, I have looked around for current values and end up getting confused and peeeed off.
Thanks in advance for any sensible information, frustrated in South Wales.

If you can't get a better price I would advise keeping it until it dies,in the meantime saving towards the next Berlingo/Rolls Royce or whatever floats your boat.

So don't p/x it. Advertise it and ask the price that you think it's worth.
Car dealers will always try to make money 'at both ends' so that's why their
offers are always an insult.

If they buy it at £800 they will mark it up at least 300% with that relatively low mileage. Why are you swapping it ? Private you should get £1800 to £2000 for it if it's bodywork is not battered to death.
So where does this bit go then ?

Thank you gentlemen above for your input above, looks like I'll hang on to it for a while as the car I was tempted to buy disappeared rapidly from the forecourt. The figure of £1800-2000 was the sort of figure I had arrived at having scoured the internet for comparable B'lingos for sale.
I've had some odd offers in p/x over the years but none as insulting as this one! Must be time for a stiff drink......

Good job too! Patzo would not thank you for depriving him/her of his/her favourite transport!!
You have to think of these things!!
I've decided to keep mine for as long as I'm driving. I might even
be able to keep it until it reaches 'Classic Car Cult Status'!!
A bit like that 60s Triumph Herald that is expected to fetch £15,000+ at auction.

Obviously none of us have seen your vehicle so an opinion on its value is tricky, do remember though that a garage would have to guarantee hitherto vehicle if it sold it on, so has to have some profit to cover getting it up to scratch for sale, and then fixing it if it breaks when sold.

I'd say that's a pretty generous part ex price for a ten year old car.

Think yourself lucky you weren't getting a P/ex price on Rover Cityrover ... you'd be paying them to take it !!!

When I bough my Berlingo, the garage gave me £33 part/ex for my T reg (1999) Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 16v

I snatched the offer in double quick time as I knew it needed a new steering rack (£300+), plus 4 new tyres (£200), tax almost out (£220) and would have cost me £50 in fuel to get home

The car was only worth about £400 taxed, so I had a bargain, but the £33 still makes me chuckle
