How generic is the wiring loom?
#1
Hello everybody peeps...

X reg 1.4 petrol 5 door - No central locking or electric windows.

I was just wondering what the chances were of Citroen putting in a standard wiring loom on all models.
I can live with windey windows, but the lack of central locking is driving me nuts.

Are there connectors sitting there in the doors just waiting to be used?
Is the only way to know for sure to crack open the door?
Or am I hearing that 'Our survey said..!' sound from Family Fortunes?

Many thanks

Hit and miss, I suggest. Mine came with the harness and electric locks, no control boxes. That's May 2000 production.

Is it a multiplexed car, or does it have the grey fuse panel under the steering wheel?

Hi all,

It's multiplexed, and I finally had time to have a look inside the door today.

There are 4 wires coming into the door. 2 go to the speaker, the other 2 go to the lock, which looks like it'd be capable of electrically operating.

So, next question, and I'm not sure whether I should separate this out into a new thread, is - So what bits would I need to get central locking set up & working?

The number of times I've thought all the doors were locked, only to find they weren't is getting worrying Smile

Many thanks to all that are helping.

I'm not sure if you have the full suite of wires for the lock - it might just be a telltale pair to operate the interior lighting. Earlier cars had up to six wires in the lock plug; I think three were for the motor, two for the lock switching contacts and one was a "door open" contact.

More thought led me to decide it's not got enough wires in there. The door lock allegedly changed at RPO83** (can't recall exactly) but it is still a multipin arrangement, albeit with a different plug fixing.
