Cylinder block drain plug
#1
Hello,

I am going to change te coolant from my mk2 1.6 Hdi 90hp van.
I have a Haynes manual and it says to first let the coolant drain from the radiator and second to drain the rest out of the engine by unbolting the cylinder block drain plug.

Haynes says it is located at the rear of the cylinder block but no picture at all...

Where can i find that drain plug ? And as far is i can see there is only 1 bleed screw in the heater outlet hose at the bulckhead, is that correct?

I hope my english is understandable beeing a dutch guy..

Thanks in advance.

From what I can see on Service Citroën, on the rear of your block there is a plastic and rubber hose assembly that attaches in three places.

Closest to the damper pulley, this hose assembly has a removable plug that points down at about 45° and is retained by a spring wire clip, similar to the radiator hose connections. If this is what you have, it should pull out once the clip is withdrawn. Use rubber grease upon reassembly.

It's not coincidence that Haynes is frequently called the "BOL" or Book Of Lies...

Thanks for the quick response, i will check it today with a small mirror. I will post later on the day what i found.

I couldnt find another manual then the Haynes one for this car...

Will the dealer use that drain plug also or only drain it at the radiator bottom hose? I learned a long time ago in scool to just drain water from the bottom of the radiator...

Ok, i found it. It is where addo says it is. Couldnt make a picture of it because it is hard to reach from the bonnet.

It is like an apendix of the human body Big Grin

Thnx again, not sure i going to use it though because it is on a difficult place to reach without a ramp...
