Dual Citroen-Peugeot Dealership

Today I made the annual trek to Citroen Manchester (South) for my free MOT, not been there since the last one 12 mths ago. This dealership is I believe actually owned by Citroen. Noticed some Peugeot signs alongside the Citroen ones and more desks in reception manned by Pug personnel.

Wasn't until I sat down and watched a slide show of a work in progress that I discovered that a new bespoke premises is being built on the site of an old pre-existing Pug Dealership nearby to deal jointly with Cit/Pug vehicles and that all personnell will be based there in November on completion of build.

The joint project is billed as the first of its kind for PSA..... watch this space..

As PAS are in very serious financial straits I would not be too surprised if one of the marques
is allowed to quietly die, much like Panhard in the late 60s......Citroen had control of Panhard
for about 5 years before the Panhard name became history. TBH We don't seem to hear about
as many problems with Peugeot's after-sales service as we do with Citroen UK.

I'm not sure where both Peugeot & Citroen are going with their styling. I have a Berlingo, not because its a Citroen but because it is the practical vehicle that I want, but most other models both Citroen & Peugeot are introducing look more like stylised, sculpted automotive art. I'm not really sure if this is what car buyers want.

The French always bought mainly French cars but Hyundai, Kia & Chevrolet are rapidly building dealer networks over there & are getting really popular. Dacias are very popular in France because they are cheap but they don't seem to have caught on in the UK yet. Their most practical models imho are the Lodgy & Dokka which is a Berlingo type car, neither of which are available to the UK market yet.

Hmm I think Citroen had better watch out for the Dacia ....... ugly mpv's and vans and expensive prices .....

That'll be the Citroen I'm describing !

Renault certainly aren't stupid....if they can get Dacia in gear like VAG did to Skoda
then Dacia will be a force to be reckoned with. According to the report by Honest John
both the Dacia Duster and the Sandero are nice to drive and their 'cheapness' doesn't
show through.
