Airbag MOT Fail
#1
The light has been on dash for 4 years but laws have now changed so ta-dah here we are FAILED
Unit next to MOT station read fault on a bosch not Lexia , the results being
801 Ignition circuit,driver-side
airbag, stage 1
Open circuit .
MOT guy reckons this could mean one of three problems;
the bag itself
the wiring
the igniter
can anyone give the guy anything else to work from ?

Also , would a lexia plug-in guarantee a more precise diagnostic ? I stress guarantee as the Citroen dealership has been swallowed up by KIA so goodness knows where I will find Lexia near me
Fingers crossed , cheers in advance n b m.

Yes, Lexia will tell you exactly what the problem is.

I have the same problem on mine. "remote Airbag igniter short to earth" is what Lexia says.

Haven't fixed it yet mind you..

Almost certainly the clock spring. It's easily damaged and can be mis-installed.

Just wonder how you went on at Richard Dalton's ???

My visit was due to loose steering wheel, didn't want the hassle of removing airbag and risking FUBAR of something expensive..... In less than the time it would have taken me to find my tools and get started it was in, out and done and dusted.... Cost me £25.00 which I thought was money well spent and I will be going back there.

Spoke with Mark who answered phone , really friendly , knowledgeable and helpful , his response clarified one point ; Lexia would pin-point exact problem .
He suggested I pop in but when I said I was 50 miles away he mentioned a Stafford dealership closer to me , what a bloke !
Told Mark I would sooner travel to a womble endorsed garage than main dealer Big Grin

He advised firstly to check connections under seats
then connection behind steering wheel ( clock spring , as ADDO Confusedalut: suggested ) , possible £££££ if coms unit is problem .
I've seen coms unit posts but not read any 'cos I've never heard of it .....Confusedtudy:

Well , I'm over the moon as all lights now behave themselves on dash but me paperwork read " repairs to fail " so I can't be forum friendly Confusedillyme:
Only receptionist in when I picked up the sportscar so no-one to grill !
Off I drove into the sunset listening to the familiar twangs and bongs from front n rear  She's back
