Ok Who has been looking for red diesel? I've just seen a crop of adverts for red diesel across the top of these pages. Makes a change from Russian girls wanting husbands and the like though.

Red diesel? they obviously think some Berlingo drivers are skint. Wink My mate worked at a local council highways depot that had a red diesel tank for the plant. The customs/excise people arrived one day & dipped the tanks of all diesel cars belonging to employees.

Imagine if you'd put soluble red dye in the tank yourself.

They'd think it was a bust until lab analysis proved otherwise. Can't see it as being an offence to dye the fuel in your own tank, but you'd make them much more wary of the heavy-handed approach.

Do you have red diesel in Oz for non road use Addo? If you are caught in the UK with red diesel in your car tank they confiscate the car.

When I changed to my first diesel I had 5 ltrs of Redex which I used in it(a good old C15).I often wondered what would happen if ever I was checked.

How long does the dye last? I've heard rumours that it lasts longer than the one tankful. It'd be a sod if you bought a car only to find out that the previous owner had used some.

Oh look, the unmarried women are back.

No red diesel laws here. At least not yet.

It stays traceable for ages. Way longer than a tank full.

When you are caught with it, in addition to the fine etc.. you are required to have a tank flush to remove all traces of it.
