1998 Berlingo Panel van 1.8 D 600
Front Differential is noisy. Can just diff be replaced or does it need gearbox as well?

Have you checked the oil for correct level? If the diff's not dropped a tooth I'd start with an oil change to the correct 75W80 and (personal preference) add a tube of PTFE paste.
