Speedometer removal
#1
Dear forum,

A quick search of the forum did not give me an answer (maybe I don't know the correct words, english not being my native language?) as to how I go about removing the speedometer.
I just failed my last MOT due to the engine warning lamp lighting (the cat's shot), and I would like to "fake" my way through it and deal with the cat later on. Thus, I'd like to remove the speedo and remove the little bulb
Help, anyone?

You can put a timer on the bulb, this way it will light for a few seconds, then go out. Should be wire 480 or 482 off the ECU connector. When a ground signal is permitted by the ECU, the lamp lights.

If your MoT tester is any good he'll spot a removed bulb immediately he switches on the ignition!
All bulbs light at switch on while the system carries out a self-check. The only way to fake it is to
take the 'guts' out of the CAT leaving an empty shell in place.

Thanks! Sent you a PM asking for a how-to, if you feel up to it Smile

I'm hoping the guy isn't very good. Besides, a new cat according to my latest quote, will cost me roughly £850, with labour :brickwall:

Thanks so much! Does it pull towards or lift, and how likely are the clips to break?

These converters should see you escape the £850 price, even considering your 25% tax on goods.

There are competing sellers of the same brand parts on Ebay.
