intermittant heater operation 1.9D 03

When I turn my heater fan speed switch to a certain position, it sometimes fails to run at all, then if I try another speed it works fine, if I try again some speeds fail and others start to work, for example, speed one works but 2 doesnt, 3 will work but 4 wont, then as I return the knob 3 wont work but 2 does, but 1 wont, then when i try again different positions work again. When they do work, the fan speeds are correct as indicated in the knob, 1 low, 2 faster, 3 faster again, and 4 very fast.... I suspect a faulty/worn dash switch, in your experience would you agree and if so can I get a new operating switch anywhere other than Citroen. thanks for any help
