Hi, we have recently bought a 2006 Berlingo and are having problems with the fuel gauge readings which are rather erratic
symptoms are:
1) Fill the tank up, gauge shows full, that's fine.
2) Drive for 150+ miles gauge shows approx. half full, that's fine.
3) Next time we use the van, the gauge sometimes shows 1 quarter full, or 3 quarters full or even completely empty (and light comes on).
4) From the time the tank gets down to about half full, the fuel gauge is erratic.
From this I assume that the float (if there is one?) gets stuck once the fuel drops below half a tank. But very puzzled as to why the gauge jumps around after this, until we fill it up again.
We know that when it does sometimes show empty (as in 3 above), it is not empty as we fill up at the petrol station and can only fit I about £25 worth of petrol.
Any clues here for what the problem may be?
