self servicing and warranty
#1
I might get shot down for asking this but here goes.... For a new vehicle and If all the servicing was done by a family member who is qualified mechanic using genuine parts, correct oils, filters etc. and it never gets taken back to a citroen garage, surely there wouldn't be need for worries about 3yr warranty. I've had cars from new never back to a dealer and can say that they have been better serviced during their lifetime. We also have a renault trafic never back to the dealer and is still as good as it left the forecourt.

I think it is correct that to keep warranty current if servicing is done my non franchised workshop, that workshop must be vat registered, so if your mechanic runs his own vat registered business & uses oem service parts then warranty is unaffected but warranty work must be done at franchised garage, I think. Where you have to be careful is with anti-perforation(rust)warranty. To keep this current there must be an inspection at franchised garage. These inspections form part of service if serviced at franchise workshop but have to be paid for if done as 'stand alone'.

Good servicing alone won't stop breakdowns, you can have major problems due to manufacturing faults so you need to ensure warranty is not invalidated, read small print carefully.

As already said, the car definitely needs to be serviced by a VAT registered garage.
