display LEDS - excellent result

Just joined today, and have found a splendid photo tutorial and tech info on replacing the display bulbs with LEDs.

I've ordered from ebay, and am looking forward to see the display once more.

me too...... the old ones just won't die though!!!!!

just a bit of an update on the LEDs in the display.

I did notice that the LEDs are a bit directional because of the lens on the end, and so produce a bright circle of about 1 inch dia on the display.cratch:

So, rather than put a blob of paint on as suggested, I stole one of SWMBO's nail emery boards , and gave the lens a gentle rubbing over. This creates a matte effect, and disperses the light more evenly over the display.


Result ! - except I owe my wife an emery board as I have nicked it for the car tool box.

Just done mine, sanded the bulb and left clear and it doesn't seem to have improved the sitch at all.
I feel I need to be able to wipe the back of the LCD.cratch:
