Type 2 Mult Function Display temperature

I have retro fitted the type 2 multi function display to my 2005 2.0 HDi (M59 engine) Multispace Desire and everything works except the outside temperature display. I have the thermister but the wiring in the door area appears to be missing. I have searched this forum for info on this wiring but mine is not like those vehicles where the wiring is present.

I am considering fitting the thermister directly to the MFD (positioning the thermister in a suitable outside location), and have tried to identify where to connect it on the MFD, without success.

There are 5 wires connected to the MFD via the 18 way connector. They are:-
Yellow. Marked T35 XE4
Green with yellow stripe. Marked 135 7215
Beige (sort of). Marked T02 B11B

And a twisted pair of orange and blue which seem to be unmarked but I suspect carry the 12 volt supply.

Does anyone have access to the wiring diagrams around the Type 2 MFD? If so which pins on the 18 way connector are connected to the thermister? The thermister is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) device of about 2.5 k Ohms at 20 deg C. I bought this as a genuine Citroen part on eBay. All suggestions welcome.

I did actually start with this post and found that I did not have the wiring in the doors. I also could not work out how to get into the door mirrors to connect the sensor, otherwise I might have installed the wiring.

However, I note from the wiring diagrams that pins 21 and 22 are connected eventually to 8 and 18 on BSI1. Is this pins 8 and 18 of the MFD2? If so then I can connect the sensor to those pins on the MFD via new wiring, positioning the sensor somewhere else other than in the mirror.

No. The sensor has to go to the Bsi as it's this which sends the data to the display.:thumbsup:

Not too sure what you meant by not knowing how to get to the mirror, but have a look at how I got to the door mirror. Careful with removal of plastic cap on page 2, I broke a plastic peg inside, but fixed it with instant glue. Used sealant to glue/stick the sensor within the base of the mirror and the wire goes through a hole inside the door. Also made a bit of a mess with the lining trim of the door.

Thanks Rustcrat. That explains why I could not get any readings by connecting the sensor to the MFD. Will have another go.

It certainly does. Thanks for the advice. I don't mind removing the door trim panel if I have to but didn't fancy removing it unnecessarily. I now know what to look for and to install in driver's door.

I also tried to remove the lower mirror trim panel and broke the peg, but I stuck it back on with some silicone mastic. Ah well! Thanks again.
