If it has a fuel shutoff solenoid, I'd be wondering if this has gone open circuit.

When was the fuel filter last changed it could be clogged up and only letting a trickle through.
Are we there yet?????
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

Thanks, I will look into the cutoff switch..
I hear what you mean about the fuel filter but it only happens once car is been running for a while the once it cools down it is fine..

Faulty temperature sensor? Mind you if it was that then I'd probably expect some warning lights.
