Wheel upgrades and offset
#1
Hi all,

I've just got some 195/r15 5.5j offset 27 alloys to replace my Berlingo MK1 175/r14 6j offset 24 steels.

They are too wide by about a 8mm-1cm and the tyre pushes on the plastic on the inner rears. Now, are 175 and 195 the same overall width? Because instead of buying spacers maybe a 175/r15 tyre width will be ok? I've measured the 195's at 21cm at widest point.

If I do have to go the spacer route, are the halfords universal spacers ok or will I have problems? Last question  do I need special long bolts for a 10mm spacer?

Thanks,
Lee

Use concentric wheel Spencer's and definitely longer bolts.

a set of propper hubcentric spacers with extended bolts aren't cheap, ideally et 15 on the mk1, et 27 is mk3, on my old mk1 I had pug 306 15" with 195/50/15 that were well cheap and fitted no prob, also you will need dif bolts from your stealies

Cheers guys, so does the spacer need to be bolted separately or can you get hubcentric bolt-through? And will a 175/15 be a lot (if any) thinner than a 195/15?

Really want to avoid spacers :/

Hubcentric will be bolt through at the thickness you require. 175mm wide tyres will be 20mm narrower than 195mm.

Hmm, my current 195's (Dunlop and Infinity) measure 204-210mm at the widest point.
