[Steering & Suspension] Sticking Steering?
#1
As I went to reverse out of the drive this morning I turned the steering wheel and just for a brief moment it felt like the tyres were stuck to the ground. After that it was ok and turned normally. Any ideas?

I have to confess the car has felt less stable than normal recently. I can't see anything wrong with the wheels and tyres. When the new tyres arrive next week I'm going to get the tracking checked as I've hit some big bumps recently.

First I'd check the PAS fluid level, then the aux belt, then look at the belt as the engine idled and I turned the wheel about 180 back and forth a few times, looking for erratic belt motion. You can load up the pump even more to listen for pump problems vs belt drive by pushing the footbrake hard as you test steer like the above.

Have a look at the u/j at the bottom of the rack it may have dried out and they get harder to turn. Get some lube on it and see if it gets any easier.
Are we there yet????? Huh
