My Multispace has a broken rear torsion bar. It looks like a replacement recon axle is the best solution. The Haynes manual says that setting the rear ride height requires special tools & is beyond the scope of the home mechanic. I would guess that the axle manufacturers would have positioned the torsion bars to give the correct height once fitted. Has anyone any experience / advice about this?
The weird thing is, the rear ride height is as normal & the car drives OK, with just the tapping of the broken bar on the axle tube as a reminder. I would have expected the suspension to have collapsed on one side, surely??
