Bang at rear
#1
On my lingo 1.9d 02, 94000 mls.....when I run over cats eyes or a crack in the road, the front suspension rides the bump smoothly and quietly, but as the rear wheels pass over the bump, theres a hell of a bang throughout the whole car, does it both rear sides, any passengers in the rear jump with fright, its been like that for 3 to 4 years and I have tried to track down the culprit a few times. Ive had it up on a lift at work, and checked the shocker bushes and for shocker operation, axle mounting bolts etc, ive removed the spare wheel and carrier but still the same, its not the exhaust either.
i have checked the rear suspension arms for free play, theres none and the rear wheels only have slight normal camber. Its the same fully loaded too with the suspension compressed, hell of a bang as either rear wheel passes over a cats eye or slight crack in road surface yet it will ride over rough muddy farm tracks quietly. Can anyone throw some light on this problem please.

I'd fit a pair of shock absorbers anyway, it sounds like they may be sticking in one place and they are not too expensive for an experiment.
So where does this bit go then ?

Yes, I'd noticed some loud popping noises at the rear, the other day. It was the outcome of falafel for the dinner prior...
