steering stiff

My berlingo 1.9 steering went stiff and pulsed when turning. I replaced the pump and fluid and also checked the bottom connection on the steering column that stiffens ups, I am at wits end as the next stage is to replace the rack or have I over looked something. Hope your able to help...thanks

What about the bearings at the top of the suspension struts, ? are they OK. The ball joints at the bottom can seize as can the track rod end ball joints, (though not very common )

Disconnect the t/rod ends and then try the steering. If still stiff you've narrowed down the problem area.

Try lubing the steering column UJs.....been done many times.
