Rubbish Heater

Does anyone else suffer from a rubbish heater in there mk2? Mine hardy seems to get luke warm my 15yr old banger megane gets absolutely toastie!

No, mine is fine. It's going to be one of three things I expect, either you have an airlock (unlikely unless you've fiddled with it recently), you have a blocked heater or the airflow thingummy isn't moving properly.

does your engine get up to temperature?

It could be your thermostat stuck open, how many miles on your mk2?

Ahh right just mine then it's been rubbish since I bought it 8 months ago, yea the engine gets up to temperature it's only done 35k.Any tips to get rid of airlock?

Check the inlet & outlet hose temps.If 1 side is a lot warmer or both sides are cool,check the matrix for blockage.If clear,I would advise draining & flushing cooling system,refill with a good quality antifreeze & bleed.If the coolant is clean,just try a bleed before throwing loot at it.:thumbsup:alut:

Best drain the coolant and fill with fresh but when you do you need to follow the correct bleed procedure for your engine.

I know Haynes manuals are not the best but it will show the bleed points for that engine - however they are not hard to find and figure out to someone who is mechanically minded.

Well the only thing I can think of it looks like it has had a new radiator not long before I bought it. First things first going to find the bleed knobs and bleed the system first and see how I get on.

I did say an airlock was unlikely unless the OP had fiddled with it recently. If it's not losing fluid then it's unlikely to have an airlock. Although it is easy to check.
