Indicators... probably com2000
#1
Ok, I have a problem with my stalks:

1) If i leave my indicators on for more than 15 seconds they stop illuminating and the relay starts clicking double quick, if i cancel them and reapply they are fine.

2) On the wiper side my intermittent works, as does my full on deluge, but the slower constant one does not, well it does if i waggle the stalk.

My hunch tells me this is a contact issue. And could be cured by taking stalks off and cleaning and fettling. Does anyone know otherwise?!

Hi Barnsey,
I suspect the indicator issue is down to a duff flasher unit. I'd agree with you on the wiper problem. I'm sure the more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Flasher unit?
It's all controlled by the BSI now.

His is apparently a '99 so it will have a grey flasher relay.

if like said in other posts on a 99 plate then i dont think it will be fitted with a coms unit it will have separate stalks, is the horn on the end of the light stalk?

The horn is on the end of the light stalk.

Also I've realised when the indicator starts to run strangely, if I apply pressure the length of the stalk towards the steering wheel, it clears up, similarly the wipers too. All points to an electrical contact issue with the stalks to me.

you can pick up second hands indicators for them for about £5/10 as its not a comms unit they are separate stalks
