Hi, anyone know how to refit the filter housing cover on 1.9 L, DW. (Oval plastic housing)
The cover fits with new filter removed & new sealing ring fitted but once the filter cartridge is in place the cover will not quite fit & allows air in when priming. The new cartridge appears to be exactly the same as the old one. I`ve tried pushing, tapping with rubber mallet & pressing with a bearing puller.
Any help greatly appreciated....

Rustscrat. Yes, its the same as picture.
New o ring was included with filter cartridge.
Cover fits perfectly with new o ring in place & cartridge removed, the problem is it wont fit with cartridge in place.
Thanks for your reply.

Not re-tried old filter but I guess that would be the next logical step, will let you know...

Problem solved by refitting old o ring. Although the new one is the same size it appears to be different material probably suitable for fitting to metal components but not the plastic used in housing.
I imagine plastic was chosen for lighter weight but unfortunately not for durability as I`ve also noticed priming assembly leaks air & engine only has 40k miles..

What make is the new fuel filter? The Hengst one I fitted recently from ECP was fine. I used the new o-rings that came with it.

New filter bought at Halfords, no sign of who makes it, cartridge identical to the old one but large o ring a different colour & probably different material. Unable to use it anyway....
