Fuel pumb and BSI unit failure 2003 1.6 petrol
#1
Good evening all wonder if anyone can help. Wife and I were out for a drive this sunday and Berlingo Multispace coasted to a halt as if ran out of petrol.Petrol gauge showed 1/4 tank but topped it up with 5 litres just in case. However engine would only fire up for a few seconds then die.Thought it still sounded like a petrol problem so put in another 5 litres. No such luck same results. RAC man said it was a BSI fault with relay not switching on petrol pump and the associated fuse had failed which he replaced but still no joy. Then he injected easy start and engine ran for longer. Then he used his power unit and connected to fuse supply and it ran as long as he connected the supply. He could not work it out so towed us back home. Anyone know if this is this actually a BSI fault or a fuel pump fault before I start spending large amounts of cash to eliminate units that may be ok.

Hi, first check its not the underbonnet fuse panel or "PSF".

This does fail at times but is far cheaper to replace (faster, too) than a BSI. If money is tight you could always add a little switch to power the pump.

if the van runs with the pump supplied its not the pump, sounds like the psf1 under the bonnet or a wiring fault as both these distribute the power to the pump, id get checked by an independent Peugeot specialist before shelling out on anything or at least do some basic checks if you know how to Wink
