Knock/tracking from front??
#1
Hi guys I have just picked up a mk1 multispace and it pulls well but the steering feels off?? I thought it had a snapped spring as it made a sort of 'piano twang' on a hard right hand turn but when I checked today the springs were fine.

I then thought strut top mount maybe?? It drives straight no wobbles etc but when I'm turning the wheel on a round about it just doesn't feel right if that makes sense? Almost like it pulling against me as if the tracking were out??

Any ideas guys I'm sure there could be lots of variables etc...
Any advice is a help

Cheers

Are they an easy(ish) job to do? Did you buy OE parts or does it not matter??

mines is a taxi so its gets a steady diet of Peugeot parts as they do seem to last longer. not a major job but can be a bit of a faff if you don't know what your doing

Yeah I guess being a taxi your going to have a few consumables on the day to day running.
Do you buy the parts from Peugeot main dealers or say europarts or whoever???

No everything comes direct from peugeot

Fortunate enough to have a trade account which saves anywhere from 10-40% depending on what I'm getting

Symptoms of a broken top spring coil . The piano twang can be the broken end moving about

+1. There was a recall to fit metal protectors at the top of the strut to stop the broken spring damaging the tyre.

Hi guys

I was planning on getting the top mounts fitted next week but if peeps think its the top of the spring ill have to get the garage to check first then order the parts so ill have to rely on the garage getting either OE from citr/Peugeot or some motor factor copy part?? What would you guys advise??
I bought the van cheapish for a run about don't want to be spending great amounts in repairs for over priced parts, labour, etc...
Tbh I think the top mounts are goosed as the wheels feel great when straight but a bit of lock turning a corner I'm fighting almost against the wheel?? Almost like the tracking is out? But at motorway speeds it has no wobbles.....
Advice much appreciated guys:-)

After having experienced the "boing" in the past,I always keep the lower strut spring seat clean & Waxoyled. It may be a cheap answer to a maidens' prayer.Confusedalut::thumbsup: I'm not insinuating that you are a maiden.LOL
