Simple way is to use a blanking plate from ebay here it just goes behind egr valve to blank it off. I would take some advice before you do anything though.

The 1,6hdi was designed to have an EGR valve unlike the add-ons on earlier engines. To this end it has its own exhaust port and water cooling on the pipe leading to the inlet manifold. It is also linked to the ECU so the car knows if you mess with it.
If it is not broken I would leave well alone.

Just blank it off or have it mapped out as long has it's up to temp for the mot it will pass it will help the inlet stay clean
