1.9 valve clearances

Has anyone on here adjusted or checked their own 1.9 valve clearances, do you have to remove the camshaft to adjust the shim thickness or can the shims be flicked out and changed with shaft in situ? Cheers

Camshaft out I'm afraid.I would advise changing the cambelt as a kit & waterpump. It was one of Fiats good ideas to design the cam followers to allow in situ adjustment.:thumbsup:alut:Check the clearances before removing shaft & write them down.For tight gaps-subtract from shim thickness.If some are within tolerance,you can safely have a few thou extra slack without making it rattle too much.
