Headlight Problem

Hi all,
I have a 2011 berlingo van. A few days back the dipped beam on the headlights stopped working. Full Beam is fine.

Whilst mooching around the back of the headlights i unclipped the metal spring that locks the bulb into place and the headlight came on. done the same to the other side and that came on to.

All worked fine for the rest of the day. Next morning same problem again. Unclipped bulbs and both came on again.

Today the same problem.

Thinking could be relay, but not a clue really

could Anyone point me in the right direction of the problem.

A BSI re-set may be the answer to this, especially if the battery has recently been replaced or disconnected.
I don't know how similar to the Mk.2 the Mk.3 BSI re-set procedure is....But someone who knows will pick up on this.

I'd try a new headlight bulb first. Usually when the dip beam fails at first you can whack the glass with your hand & it will come on so fiddling about will probably have the same effect. My first set of headlight bulbs lasted about 4yrs, then one went followed by the other a couple of wks later so they can fail more or less together. The bulbs are H4 which are cheap enough.

This was both sides though, Opensauce. Is it likely he has both bulbs failing simultaneously?
By releasing the clips he's momentarily taking the bulbs out of circuit and then they both work.
Smells like BSI jiggery-pokery to me!!

More likely pulling a ground through the high beam relays in the BSM.

I'd check the fuses inside and out, if all kosher then suggest swapping a "known good" BSM to see if that fixes the problem.
