Dear users,
i bought my 2012 Mk 3 on Friday, took it to the pumps to fill up, and could only dribble the diesel in because the actual forecourt pump kept shutting off like it does when the car is full. The car was empty! It took quite a time to get £4 in. Today I went to another petrol station, and the same problem again, the forecourt pump kept locking off, the car spat diesel back at me and it dribbled down the car and onto the forecourt! I have rung the Citroen dealer I bought car from, and they have said they will meet me at their nearest garage and show me how to put diesel in!!
Ive been driving 33 years and never had this problem in such a persistent manner.
Any ideas?
Many thanks
PS does anyone know how I change my user name?!

I just fill with trigger part way in so the flow is slower, never found it a problem. I assume you were using a car pump not a truck pump on the forecourt? Or maybe the previous owner has fitted an anti siphon device in filler neck & it has got pushed down, try poking a stick down filler neck to see if there is an obstruction.

I find that if I pull the trigger in the whole way on mine it clicks as if its full. Works fine by pulling the lever slower.

What you describe sounds like a device that has been mentioned on here before to prevent a diesel car being mis fuelled with petrol, called a Fuel Angel, it is not a standard Citroen fitment & probably the garage fitted it to prevent employees driving various petrol & diesel cars making mistakes. Obviously it is causing problems so go back to your supplying dealer & tell them to remove it without charge to yourself.

My then new 2012 had a sticky overflow valve in the filler neck which caused the nozzle to shut off if the trigger was squeezed more than a dribblesworth (like a jobsworth only much slower)
A bit of brutality with the nozzle and the valve was soon taught to behave....
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

I put a tank a day in my 63 plate 'lingo, I ONLY ever use the Vpower diesel pumps at shell garages, 52L a time (filling up from empty) and no issues, I get that with my classic Honda, try tilting the pump nozzle so instead of being | try it \
63 plate Berlingo working hard.....
