Yep, that is the other option. Driver as it is in kilometers and change it before MOT, but it is a bit of a faff, although not that much of a problem.

Did not tried to change...
BSI will take highest mileage it finds.

I checked every option available and could not really find any way to change the odometer from miles to kilometers for a test. The parameters measurement in the instrument panel says "odometer miles", but this is only a measurement.
It would appear it is hard coded in the instrument cluster. If I buy the European cluster with kilometers, it may be available to change it and it may not be.
Unless is something I have missed somewhere, but I do not see it. Only configurable options in instrument cluster are: oil level function, service indicator function and the Cruise Control (RVV).
If this is not possible on the new cluster, it will throw a spanner in the works. I would have to dish out some money for the mileage correction people to re-program it.

Best wishes,
saskak

It is not in instrument cluster. It is in "customer options" . First page after "diagnosis"
I will look it up and take picture.

I checked those as well. I meant I checked every single menu available. I will double check the customer options, but there was not anything about miles/km.

People, it works perfectly!!!

The 5-year old saga is over for me at least.
So, I bought a second hand instrument cluster (6105X5, 9657951680) from the Netherlands. The donor car had 74k kilometers. My car has ~82k miles, so no problem with getting more mileage.
I put it in, all the lights were on (same as if cruise option 2 with display is selected on the normal cluster). Programmed to use cruise control option 2 with display and everything stopped flashing. The odometer read ~132000, or exactly my mileage in miles converted to kilometers. The trip distance was also in kilometers.

Took it for a drive and everything was OK, everything works as it should be, up/down from the control stick and cruise display also shows when the stick is switched on. See attached photos. The only problem is that the odometer shows miles and the cruise control LCD also shows the speed in kilometers.

The cluster is from Europe, so bought a cheap Peugeot 206 black instrument cluster and swapped the plastic thing that shows the speedometer in miles and in small letters kilometers. This is a perfect match. See photo.

If I can somehow switch the cluster to display miles on the odometer it would be perfect, but I cannot do it in Lexia/DiagBox/PP2000, this is no such option.

Just to check that everything is correct, I swapped back the clusters with the original one and the mileage is correct. As far as I can say or understand this kilometers business is hard-coded in the configuration data of the cluster itself.

Let me know if you need more info.

Happy days!

New donor cluster. The black caps on the needles are off as I was scanning the plastic thing for the speedometer. Might someday print myself a new face.

Second photo of cluster

The same cluster, but with the face of Peugeot 206. So now I get miles in big letters and kilometers in small.

So if I want to have cruise control in a m59 it’s not just a simple case of fitting a com2000 from a higher spec vehicle such as a Peugeot or Picasso & fitting the stalk & centre display then programming in with Lexia but I also need a new instrument cluster?

As far I gather any M59 after 2006 needs the new display, before that it was possible without. That is from some Russian forums where I got the idea that it will work with a new cluster.

What year & engine do you have?

I’ve fitted the com2000, cc stalk & centre display as well as a leather steering wheel from a Picasso in my 2010 m59. Haven’t programmed cc in yet to see if it works
