centre display
#1
I bought my 2009 Berlingo Today! Should there be a centre display? If not where is the clock, how do you change the radio controls etc.? It is a M-SP XTR HDI 90. It doesn't look like the picture in the handbook. Help

Welcome denise59.
Yes there should be a display. Simple as that.
If there is no display then the dealer definitely should be looking into 'Why?'
The display gives you much information.
The date and time. Instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption,
distance travelled, estimated mileage left in fuel tank, average speed on the current trip
and radio station.
If you have an owner's manual it will give more details. If it's the same as older models then
pressing the button at the end of the wiper stalk for three seconds should re-set the display.
My opinion is that it's a potentially serious fault and I would reject the car merely on that fault
alone. Hope this helps.

Thank you for that. The radio/CD player exists but above it where I would expect the display unit (as shown in the manual) there is just a flat place to put keys etc.!!??

It does beggar a question to the Mk.3 (M9) owners.
Guys...is there any way that the display may not be there?
For instance changing the radio head unit...I don't think so.
Denise...if you want a definitive answer today hang on here as
I'm certain that someone will know. If someone has 'modified ' the
car so that there is no visible display I'd still reject it. You NEED the display
to work....full stop.

Thanks for all the interest. I have contacted the garage I bought it from who advertised it as 'top of the range' and as having trip computer etc. and they admit it should have a display and are 'looking into'
getting it fitted. I also popped off the tray thingy and found a connector block so assume it was disconnected for some reason. Watch this space.....

Has a different radio unit been fitted with display on radio? This will cause problems as date/time is adjusted from front of standard radio. The small screen should display when you turn key & the display time, date, outside temp & radio station. Press end of right hand stalk & it will scroll through fuel consumption etc. It will also display faults if something goes wrong.

Describe the radio unit. If it has its own lit up display then it is not the standard one & has been changed. Really the standard radio should not be changed & this could cost a fair bit to sort out so ensure you are not fobbed off.

No, the radio looks identical to the original shown in the book, but the display which appears in the manual as a separate unit has been entirely replaced by a fitted tray/small console piece

Here is the picture, as best as I can take with a Nexus.

The radio is a standard fitting, but I have never seen a display area like that.
Does it 'flip up' ? maybe it's the Satnav that's fitted there ??
