1.6Hdi to 1.9 D in an m59 van
#1
A mate has offered me an M59 1.6 hdi which did the usual trick of spitting its engine out, to which he has started to fit a 1.9d which he has no longer got time to finish- So muggins here has inherited the van!
Now its in and running, with the immobiliser bypassed in the time honoured chop off the box and electric diesel solenoid method, but im wondering weather its simpler to chop it for parts or try and get the multiplex talking of a working fashion...
My concerns would be speedo and tacho, air bag and srs, and i'd imagine the car might try to drop in to eco battery mode as the HDI engine ecu is no longer wired to the injectors or crank sensors...

Any ideas? Is this a non starter, chop the bugger up, or has anyone tried this and come up with solutions? Any other ideas on where this project could hit electrical brick walls?

Ta in advance!

By this stage you'd be better off fitting a Bosch mechanical pump wouldn't you? (I am not an expert)

This also means you can run on veg oil

That's the kind of pump it has on the replacement engine (non turbo 306), with mechanical accelerator cable, i hadn't considered the bio diesel aspect Wink

Might wait till i get it home on Monday and see which systems dont work, before i make any big decisions

Is it definitely Bosch though? Lucas is electro-mechanical and can't be used with veg oil
