EGR Solenoid/Valve

My 58 110 XTR showed the engine warning logo on the dashboard on a couple of occasions recently. Also accelerating from low revs sometimes causes it to hesitate slightly. Our motor vehicle department at school plugged it into their diagnostic gizmo today and it recorded two faults, P0409 EGR Solenoid Valve Sticking and P0489 EGR Circuit Valve Too Open.
Where is the EGR valve on a Mk 3 and can I get to it easily and can it be cleaned out? If so, how?

It's at the back of the engine on the right hand side under the air filter behind the fuel filter it's a pain to get to if your not good with a spanner's get some one to do it and it seams to be stuck open you mite need a new EGR/solenoid when it's fixed you need to get it blanked off but the EGR still need's to open and close or maped to deleted the EGR then you will have no more problem's
