citroen berlingo antifreeze smell?

have a antifreeze smell when heater put onto hot setting. no leaks in passenger footwell etc, i thought it was the rad so changed this. still same when driving short distances or long, cold setting ok no smell, put onto hot and get a warm antifreeze smell. is this the heater matrix? anyone know please, can i change this without whole dashboard removal?

any help appreciated thanks.
