Blanked egr problem
#1
Hi guys, new to this forum. Have got myself a 2004. 2.0. Hdi berlingo multispace desire. Drove well for first week then kept dropping into limp mode, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes days. Had diagnostic came up egr fault and was reset, one day later back into limp mode so got blanking plate and had fitted at local garage and all faults cleared. Car is still popping in and out of limp mode, how can this happen. Any advice please

Perhaps it wasn't the egr at fault initially.

Further information, have found car goes into limp when on overrun or ticking over, it then comes out if I let it idle for a minute or two then pull away. Maybe this will help diagnose.

The Siemens ECU hates blanking plates or any fiddling with the EGR at all. Probably not related to EGR. Needs a Lexia on it as you've already guessed. I'd happily do it but I'm down near Reading and due to a head injury, been told I won't be driving for some time.

As mentioned the Siemens system is touchy with EGR.
After about 6 good starts it should reset itself.
I've had mine disconnected for a few years and it only plays up after i reconnect it for the MOT, a few days later it sorts itself out and all is well again

Mine just went into limp - home mode when it was disconnected and there it stayed until it was reconnected!

Have now got fault code reader am getting a repetitive p1351 which I understand is to do with glow plug circuit and a p0402 which is egr excessive. Still have blanking plate fitted so how can egr be excessive???

Googling egr excessive brings up a lot of info - too much for me to extrapolate and type out, have a search.
