I have just bought a 2007 left hand drive diesel Berlingo in Spain. The model is Berlingo HDI 175 FG60.
I have a problem with the parcel shelf that I need some advice on. I should add that this is my first Berlingo and my knowledge of this model is zero.
The shelf does not sit very well because some bits seem to be missing. Four protruding parts that sit in the recesses are missing. They are obviously detachable as you can see from the photo. I would assume that lost or broken parts is a common problem. I am going to try and include a picture to illustrate this. The local Spanish dealer said that these parts could not be purchased separately and a new shelf was needed at €230. A UK dealer quoted £300.
I attach 3 photos - A shows where the part has been detached from. B shows the recess where the part fits into. C shows the inward facing lug and I cannot understand its function.
The Berlingo is a very popular car in Spain but I could not find one in any of the local car breakers. I am going to keep an eye out for someone driving a Berlingo as I know lots of people never use the parcel or rear shelf.
There are two parts on the parcel shelf that face inwards and I cannot figure out what their purpose is. Could anyone clarify please?
My four questions are - can anyone help me find out where I can get the missing bits. Second - what are the inward facing parts on the parcel shelf for? Third – is there a way to work around this problem? Four – does anyone have a parcel shelf they don’t use that I could have the parts from?
Many thanks for taking the time to read this and for any suggestions you may have.
Regards
