Delphi Com2000 airbag clock ring spring

Guys I need some help, tell me how can I remove the ring as I need to mod something up. Do I need to split open the Com2000 which i rather not do, or can I force it towards me? I hope somebody can tell me a little more in depth info so I can split it open from it's housing like this

Judging by what I see, it's possible to unclip it from the front but I'm afraid it maybe connected to something in the back that may break other components. Normally I wouldn't care and be done with it but if I break the unit the car won't start :| as it only starts when cables are plugged in. That reminds me can I fix up a solution to be able to start the engine without the Delphi unit? I fear the answer is no....

you need to split the entire unit on a delphi what are you trying to do may I ask and there is no way to start the vehicle without the comms unit
